  1. Well, I think this is meant different of what you think. What he wants is to be able to lock the PC, but don’t get the password screen on log-on, not when unlocking the PC. And that is in fact possible. You need to set a password and then you can provide Windows with you log-on credentials as default. It will boot directly to the desktop without you having to input a password, while still allowing to lock the PC.

    • Regardless of the fact that what you’re saying is possible, why would you need to lock the PC then at all when all you have to do is reboot it and you back at the desktop. The need to lock it implies security, having it automatically log in for you defeats the purpose entirely.

    Actually, it sounds to me almost as if he wants ctrl alt del to shut down the pc.
