Sony’s doing a fine job exploiting a huge PR snafu. I’d expect nothing less from the rootkit-for-consumers company.
What I was getting at is that there’s nothing stopping them from
imposing limitations on used games a couple years down the road. When
they grow a large enough customer base of PS4 owners, they can simply
push a firmware update to do so. And believe me when I say that people
will just deal with it because “that PS4 was expensive” and “those PS4 games are nice”.
It’s funny how everyone seems to have forgotten the PS3 OtherOS feature removal via firmware update.
And least we forget … they also disabled PS1/PS2 backward functionality the same way.
