FlyBoy Fail

At the time I worked for one of the DOD branches as a Network Engineer, and as such you meet  different levels of intelligence.

One day, I was tasked with cleaning out some of the old cabling at one of the hangers on the flight line. I had a a big pile of the cables I was about to throw out when a couple of pilots walked up and asked if there was anything that they could do to help. I jokingly said that the cables came from the classified network and as such needed to have the classified bits squeezed out of them and proceeded to pinch one of the cables and pull it up as if I was trying to squeeze the last bit of tooth paste from the tube.

I get called away as I throw the cable into the garbage because a keyboard wasn’t working (they wanted to blame me). I come back and I see these college educated, million dollar airplane fighter pilots, mimicking my actions; squeezing the last bits of classified data from these cables.

They were about half way done so I couldn’t stop them. I thanked them, packed up the rest of my stuff and walked away trying so hard not to bust out laughing.
