On October 5th a passenger aboard a Southwest Airlines flight from Kentucky had his phone catch fire in the cabin prior to departure. The phone in question is a Samsung Note 7. It’s owner said he had exchanged his original recalled phone for this “safe” replacement back in September. The damage is not severe, a hole burned in the carpet and smoke in the cabin. No personal injuries have been reported. Southwest flight attendants are asking passengers to keep the Note 7 devices powered off. [read more here]
