I came across this user review on a very reputable computer hardware e-tailer’s website for a Scythe SY1225SL12SH 120mm.
You would think catching on fire once was the first clue to not plug it in again.

Should be -3 for “Tech Level”
“-2 Eggs for Catching on Fire.”
“If the fan catches fire while running, unplug it and wait for the fire to go out and for the fan to cool off before plugging it in again. – I swear that’s what it said in the fan’s manual which burned up along with my house.”
Come to think of it, I’ve got 2 Scythe SY1225SL12SH fans installed at the front of an Antec VSK-2000 as intake (behind the case’s dust filter), voltage-regulated to run just below 1400RPM. Internets, should I be keeping a fire extinguisher handy?
I bought one as well but that was before i saw that review. I might just replace it with some cooler master fans instead…hmmm..
