I actually have a dual xeon box for which the heatsinks were blessed with screws that were too short. So, I got the thread pitch, went to the local hardware store, and bought new ones. Sweet Sweet victory is still mine to this day. The client got their “I need this RIGHT AWAY” taken care of, and I got the giggles for fixing an expensive system with .75 worth of parts. 🙂
I actually mounted my first media center PC on a wooden shelf in my TV cabinet with all the guts visible… Motherboard screwed on top, hard drives and DVD rom attached to the bottom of the shelf with hinges.
