Faildesk Flash: Email Guy Emails He Can’t Get Into Email [story]

I work IT Support for a major company. Our end-users aren’t what you’d call computer-savvy. Today, we received an email:

“Dear Help Desk:

I am locked out of my email.”

This came from the user’s own account. There is a fatal flaw in this somewhere…

I would reply saying you didn’t get their email and ask them to send it again -Scott

  1. A company I worked for years back used Lotus cc:Mail; and every so often you’d have to “reclaim” disk space – that is, defragment the mail store, and it was crucial that all users were logged out for the duration of this process.  An email was sent out by one of the managers saying that as of 12 o’clock Monday everyone had to log out for a few hours, and he’d let everybody know when it was safe to log back in.  Needless to say he let everybody know by sending an email.

    • He could have sent that with his Blackberry.  Connecting to your e-mail through BES doesn’t require they actually log into their e-mail account.
