So, many many moons ago I worked for a major PC manufacturer whose cow prints shall remain nameless. I was green in support so I was unfamiliar with the intricate balance of reading the level of common sense of our customers over the phone.
I had a very nice lady call me completely in tears one day because she had spilled an entire can of soda on her keyboard and it had quit working properly (aside from being just nasty – lol). One of the tricks I had learned was to have the customer put the keyboard in the dishwasher, after which, they should let it dry for a day or two. I explained to her this was perfectly safe to do and she was elated that it could possibly be so simple. Several days pass and she calls me back in tears because it didn’t work and NOW her computer won’t even turn on! After a few minutes of interrogation I determined that I needed to overnight her a new replacement computer.
What tripped me off? It was at the moment when she stated that she was able to get her keyboard AND box (CPU) in the dishwasher but the monitor didn’t fit so she had to remove the top shelp of her dishwasher and run a separate load just for it!
Needless to say i was WAY more specific going forward with the keyboard trick. LOL

Wow you don’t even have to be an entry level tech to understand that water, heat and moisture are all bad for electronics of any kind. Epic tech support fail!
Okay, what you need to do is pack the computer back into the boxes along with everything that came with it, take it back where you got it and get a full refund, because you’re TOO STUPID TO OWN A COMPUTER!
Actually, I often clean keyboards like this, i’ve been in the IT world for 20 years and it REALLY IS a decient way to clean them, you use NO SOAP no detergent just the hot water spray, then you set them someplace warm to dry for a few days and they work like magic… sometime you have to hose them out again with De-ionized water, but most of the time keyboards are so freaking cheap thease days we just shit-can them and give the user a new one.
I would be tempted to clean an IBM Model M this way but with no soap. I still have my Model M close to 15 years of hard as heck Pepsi spilling on the keys etc use. Those were tanks. Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s better at surviving than a tank.
After a nuclear war, our new cockroach overlords would write out their demands on those.
Actually, a CPU can handle the heat quite well, provided it is a single chip. Just don’t bend the pins when you yank it out.
