1st grade homework: spot the difference

First off, I didn’t realize this was something they taught in 1st grade.ย  Second, I think you need to hit the shift key to log off, at least using this keyboard.

“One of my friends teaches 1st grade. She posted this last night. See if you can spot the differences.”

  1. Everyone knows the One True Keyboard is Dvorak!
But seriously, even an alphabetic keyboard would be better if all you’re doing is typing with your thumbs. I don’t understand why we stick with the awkward layout we do.

    • We stick with it because nobody feels like learning a new system. Everyone keeps using QWERTY, because well…. everyone keeps using QWERTY.

      • BB: That layout has been proven to be very quick to reach all the keys. The most common letters in all european languages are easy to access with index, middle and ring finger, which are the most agile ones. Some companies tried layouts in alphabetic order and I dont know anyone who has to use those keyboards on computer controlled machines who doesnt hate it. Nothing against you BB, keep on typing with your index finger circling like a vulture over the keyboard….

alcari: there is also QWERTZ very common

about a new system, that is only worth it, if you’d invent a keyboard for only one hand (seen an example in the movie “the fortress” 1993 starring Christopher Lambert)

  2. Looks like a KB from a Commodore VIC 120. Maybe from a IBM Desktop 486, with the dual 3.5 floppies drive? In my far and distant memory of JR. High school, I can see the school help, up in the offices. And sounding like they had automatic weapons, when they were typing letters, CLICK” CLICK” CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK”CLICK” CLICK” ….. Resting the margin lines. for the signature block (Or just reloading).
