Woah there though, did anyone look at the FOUR 512GB SSDs?
That’s 2 TB SOLID STATE DRIVES!
Sure Mac’s are disgustingly expensive, but a PC would also be ridiculously expensive with 2TB SSDs!
that’s pretty pricey for a mere 3.0ghz 6 core. an amd 8 core desktop won’t run anywhere even close to that lol mac people must have money to piss away like they just don’t care.
Well, it IS 2x 3.06GHz 6 core server CPUs, not just one. Since they’re server CPUs, you can’t really compare them to desktop ones. Compare this to, say, 2x AMD Opteron 3.1GHz 4300 series 6 core server CPUs and I bet you’d have a good fight on your hands.
Those are XEON processors. Even base Xeon processors are going to cost in the range of $1k a processor, and high end Xeons will run up to $4k a processor. Coupled with 4x512gb SSDs, 64gb of ram and a $1k Fibre Channel Card, this guy is getting off pretty easy.
But HEY! Free Shipping!
and next year you wouldnt be able to sell it for 900 bucks

yeah but nobody really needs that anyways. that’s just a geek want because i want kind of thing.
Actually, 2 TB Solid State in a striped RAID… damn, my rendering would be fast… especially with the 12 cores and the 64 GB RAM

Actuall … I think this picture says quite a lot … I did however not find all the proper parts, but it should work with these pieces …

Wrong, that particular Xeon processor is extremely inexpensive. $300-400 per processor. And ‘Base’ Xeons cost less than $200.
I bet I could go to Alienware and make a better computer for more!
